Michael Jordan was a competitive guy who could be a real pain with his teammates.
players of all time. However, sometimes that competitive spirit manifested itself in some pretty toxic ways. Of course, . Throughout the course of “The Last Dance,” Jordan’s antics when it comes to practices has been well-documented. He would do absolutely anything to win basketball games and sometimes, that involved motivating his peers in odd ways.
During a recent podcast appearance, former Bulls reporter Sam Smith spoke about Jordan’s relationship with Horace Grant, who is one of the secondary figures in the ESPN documentary. As Smith explains, if Grant played a bad game, Jordan wouldn’t let him eat and would take his food away from him.
“Players would come to me over the years and said, ‘You know what he did? He took Horace’s food away on the plane because Horace had a bad game,'” Smith said. “He told the stewardesses, ‘Don’t feed him, he doesn’t deserve to eat!'”
Simply put, Jordan was starving his teammates if they played poorly. Clearly, his teammates didn’t mind it too much as they helped him win six titles over the course of his storied career.
We can’t wait to see what other stories come from this documentary.
