Morat's Juan Pablo Villamil Says He Tested Positive For Coronavirus

Morat bandmember Juan Pablo Villamil says he has tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) after traveling to Spain and Mexico. The Colombian pop group made the announcement on Instagram over the weekend.

In a three-minute-long video, the band explained that they were visiting Spain and Mexico two weeks ago and as soon as they arrived in Bogota, Colombia, they took the safety precautions to self-quarantine.

Days after arriving in his home country, Villamil, who plays the banjo and does vocals, apparently felt COVID-19 symptoms and tested positive. The other three members have very mild symptoms but are continuing to quarantine. “We must be careful not to become contagion agents,” they expressed in their statement.

“Friends, being in preventive quarantine for having arrived from Spain, Villa was tested because he had symptoms and was positive for COVID-19. For having been together for 14 days and having some similar symptoms, it’s our responsibility to assume that we all have the virus. We will enter mandatory quarantine until everything passes,” the band wrote.

“For now, we anticipate that we are well and we’ll be telling you how everything is progressing. We have had very mild symptoms. We must be careful not to become contagion agents. We love you and ask you to stay home and listen to what the authorities say. Spoiler: We will continue to release music. Pending next week.”

Spoiler: Vamos a seguir sacando música. Pendientes la próxima semana.

Basic protective measures against the novel coronavirus, according to WHO, include washing your hands with soap and water or using alcohol-based hand sanitizer, maintaining social distancing at least three feet between yourself and anyone who is coughing or sneezing, and avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth.
