East London rapper Morrisson links up with Manchester’s Aitch for lush summer throwback ‘House & Garage.’
Built from classic ingredients like spacious, vibey synths, driving bass, percussive vocal samples and 2-step beats, Harry James’ slick production creates something new, setting up the two MCs for a fresh and updated tribute to UKG. The track is a departure from the intensity of Morrison’s latest single ‘Eastender,’ seeing both Morrisson and Aitch displaying the flexibility of their skill in melodic, laid back flows. The video plays on this, ramping up the cheekiness with an intermission scene where Aitch gets in an elevator with Morrisson, saying “You sound like you’re from EastEnders.”
The accompanying visuals are pure fun, setting the track to a party in Jammer’s basement, summer rooftops, and throwback moments featuring Avirex jacket-clad kid doubles of Morrisson and Aitch, passing around a discman and getting up to some naughty antics. Filled with shoutouts to scene legends Wiley and Heartless Crew and lyrical winks like “I’ve had trees in my house & garage,” ‘House & Garage’ is a good old-fashioned summer banger.
