Niall Horan released a pair of Spotify Singles on Wednesday (March 4), including a Fletcher-assisted cover of Taylor Swift‘s “Lover.”
On his rendition, the former One Direction-er reinvents the Lover title track as an electric guitar-fueled rock ballad. “We can leave the Christmas lights up till January/ ‘Cause this is our house and we make the rules/ And there’s a dazzling haze and mysterious way about you dear/ Have I known you twenty seconds or twenty years?” he croons before tossing the second verse to Capitol labelmate Fletcher.
For her part, Swift gave the cover her stamp of approval on social media following its release. “This is absolutely STUNNING,” she wrote, sharing the track on her Instagram Story. “@niallhoran & @findingxfletcher LOVE YOU GUYS.”
Recorded at London’s Air Studios, Horan’s Spotify Singles two-pack also included a loose, relaxed take on his latest single “No Judgment.” The Irish singer-songwriter’s sophomore solo album Heartbreak Weather is set to be released March 13 Neon Haze Music/Universal Music Group.
