Up-and-coming pop singer Oli Lunny premiered her anthemic new single “Think Of Me” on Thursday (April 16), exclusively to Billboard.
On the electro-pop track, the Canadian singer-songwriter wistfully questions whether she’s on the mind of her former flame following their split. “Do you think of me/ When you’re with somebody else/ When you’re drinking by yourself/ Tell me that you do/ Do you think of me/ When you’re driving home at night/ And something don’t feel right/ Tell me that you do/ ‘Cause I think of you/ ‘Cause I think of you,” she croons on the chorus over jittering pop production.
“I had gone through a recent breakup at the time,” Lunny tells Billboard of writing the song with fellow Canadian star Tyler Shaw. “The lyrics we came up with were super honest and described what I was going through very accurately. It turned into a post break-up anthem I think we can all relate to.”
She adds, “We’ve all been there, wondering to ourselves, ‘Do you think of me?’ I think a lot of us drive ourselves crazy thinking we’re the only one going through a rollercoaster of emotion. The reality is we’re all human and all experiencing these universal feelings of love and heartbreak.”
The new single follows the Winnipeg native’s big win on Season 2 of Canadian music competition series The Launch, in which she was mentored by Jann Arden, producer Shaun Frank and Big Machine Label Group executive Scott Borchetta to record an original song titled “I Got You.” Lunny’s is expected to follow the reality TV win up with more singles later this year.
