On-Foot Look at the Nike Ja 1 “Light Smoke Grey”

Since its unveiling on Christmas Day of last year, fans have been anxiously awaiting the launch of the Nike Ja 1. Earlier this year, we linked up with the Nike Basketball team to learn more about Ja Morant’s first sneaker with the Swoosh. Various colorways have surfaced since — including a Swarovski crystal-equipped pair — with no official release date shared just yet.

Now, a previously unseen pair has surfaced courtesy of the YankeeKicks squad. Named the “Light Smoke Grey” look, it appears as the most modest colorway to date with white, grey and black accented by hits of yellow at the tongue and heel branding. Rather than appearing with eye-catching graphics or vibrant hues, the left and right shoes favor different color arrangements. Both appear with a white mesh base, however the right shoe utilizes a light grey at its Swooshes and midfoot panel whereas the left appears with black Swooshes and dark grey panels. The right’s sole unit goes from off-white at the midsole to white at the outsole whereas the left goes from white to light grey. Additional elements from the laces to the lining similarly see swaps between the two to complete the look.

At the time of writing, Nike has yet to announce any release details regarding the debut of Ja Morant’s Nike Ja 1. With the “Light Smoke Grey” colorway in particular, it is expected to land on shelves in the coming months at a price of $110 USD via Nike.

For more of the latest Nike Basketball news, Kevin Durant is once again seeing a signature shoe of his receive the “What the” treatment as the KD 15 has been prepared with references to 10 existing colorways.
