OneRepublic videoed into the at-home edition of The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Friday (April 17) to perform their latest single “Better Days.”
Accompanied by two of his bandmates, frontman Ryan Tedder belted out the track’s optimistic message live from his home studio. “Wakin’ up in California/ But these clouds they won’t go away/ Everyday is like another storm, yeah /I’m just tryin’ not to go insane/ Yeah, and the city shinin’ so bright/ So many dark nights, so many dark days/ But any time I feel the paranoia/ I close my eyes and I pray,” he crooned on the first verse over piano and acoustic guitar before launching into the song’s chorus.
The buoyant ballad serves as the fourth single off the pop band’s upcoming studio set, Human, and was preceded by “Rescue Me,” “Wanted” and “Didn’t I.” The forthcoming album, OneRepublic’s fifth, was originally slated to be released May 8 Interscope Records, but has been pushed back to the fall due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
