Pop Shop Podcast: Lady Gaga’s ‘Chromatica’ at No. 1

On the latest Pop Shop Podcast: A discussion about how there have been just two No. 1 albums by women in 2020.

When Lady Gaga’s Chromatica album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, it not only marked the superstar’s sixth chart-topper, but also just the second No. 1 album by a woman in 2020. Out of the 18 No. 1 albums this year, the only other album by a woman to lead the list is Selena Gomez’s Rare, which debuted at No. 1 in January.

On the latest Billboard Pop Shop Podcast (listen below), the team discusses why there have been so few leading ladies atop the chart in 2020, some near misses from some notable women this year, and which upcoming projects might turn the tide for female artists at No. 1.

Elsewhere in the new episode of the Pop Shop Podcast, hosts Jason and Keith discuss chart news about how DaBaby’s “Rockstar,” featuring Roddy Ricch, hits No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and Jimmy Buffett scoring his highest charting album on the Billboard 200 in over 15 years. Plus, there’s a Chart Stat of the Week about the Dixie Chicks’ Taking the Long Way album topping the Billboard 200 this week in 2006.
