Quavo Releases New Song With Takeoff ‘Dope Boy Phone’: Listen

Quavo, an Atlanta legend in his own right when it comes to hip hop, just released a song in collaboration with the late Takeoff. The two worked on the song while Takeoff was still alive, but the track has been vaulted since at least 2019, when it was first teased.

While core fans of Migos have awaited the release of the track since then, the anticipation has only increased in light of Takeoff’s early departure from this world. For many, this is a chance to reconnect with one of their favorite artists — one that truly pioneered the modern triplet trap flow.

Truly trap in every sense of the word, ‘Dope Boy Phone’ is a dealer’s anthem with an earworm of a hook built around a repetitive motif: Dope Boy Phone. The lyrical content in the verses also stays on brand with the rapper’s image, and speaks of drugs and women.

Living vicariously through his lyrics, Takeoff reminds fans of his lifestyle as he switches pockets, setting the mood for the party as he claims that he “got thе weed and the dope for the hoes (Dope)/ I got the kush for the lungs and the lean for the kidney. And the bitches got the dope for the nosez” — almost nostalgically speaking from another plane. Check out the track below!
