Ricardo Arjona has been using his social media platforms to keep fans informed on his new project, Blanco y Negro, revealing that his single “Hongos” will drop April 28. Billboard can confirm that the forthcoming production will launch in two separate discs: Blanco (White) and Negro (Black).
This week, the Guatemalan singer revealed a previously-recorded video of four of his fans—Marisa from Argentina, Sandy from Mexico, Laura from Colombia and David from Spain—getting the surprise of a lifetime. The clip documents the the four fans not only traveling to the famed Abbey Road Studios in London to preview the album, but also getting surprised by the singer-songwriter himself.
“Being in lockdown has its advantages. It makes the quietest people speak and the most talkative people keep quiet. Blanco y Negro, just around the corner. Because that’s the way things are…with the shirt inside out. Black and White is an attitude,” he expressed on Instagram.
Arjona has been presenting his project online since 2019 by sharing fan covers, behind-the-scenes footage and more.
“This isn’t a marketing strategy or an attempt to prolong it. It’s that sometimes, those of us who sail with the flag of independence, rarely find the easy roads to advance,” he expressed on Instagram. “As it is a very personal road and we are capricious, foolish, stubborn, and so on, it’s not easy sometimes. But, we are going to launch the albums soon,” he said, adding that Blanco, home to 14 songs, will be released first, followed by Negro with 12 songs. “It is probably the most important job I have done in my entire life.”
