After only one season, Ruby Rose has had her fill of Batwoman. When it was announced that the Orange is the New Black star would be helming the title role of the CW series, the news made waves. The casting made and she makes her exit not long after Batwoman announced its renewal for season two.

“I have made the very difficult decision to not return to Batwoman next season,” the actress said in a statement. “This was not a decision I made lightly as I have the utmost respect for the cast, crew and everyone involved with the show in both Vancouver and in Los Angeles.” According to Deadline, the role of Batwoman will be recast by another LGBTQIA+ actress.
The outlet also speculates why Ruby Rose decided to walk away from the Warner Bros. production, noting that it didn’t have anything to do with the near-paralyzing injury she sustained while filming.
