Sam Hunt appeared on A Late Show with Stephen Colbert Monday evening (April 13) from the comfort of his studio to perform his infectious single “Hard to Forget.”
The country singer-songwriter shared his stripped-down version of the song alone on guitar, with the help of a backing track.
“Hey everybody. My band couldn’t join me this evening, so I’m going to try to make do here at the studio,” Hunt told viewers. “This is our new song called ‘Hard to Forget.’”
With a track behind him featuring a sample of Webb Pierce’s 1953 hit “There Stands the Glass,” Hunt brought the song to life from the studio with delicate strums of the acoustic guitar and his smooth and rhythmic vocals.
“Hard to Forget” follows Hunt’s most recent No. 1 single “Kinfolks” and is featured on his sophomore album Southside, released April 3. The project debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Country Albums chart and is the best country album debut of 2020. The album marks his second consecutive debut at No. 1 on the chart following 2014’s Montevallo.
