In the middle of a global pandemic, Santiago Cruz is keeping motivated one song at a time.
The Colombian singer-songwriter curated an exclusive playlist for Billboard featuring 20 songs that are helping him get by these trying times, kicking off with Mumford & Sons’ “Guiding Light.”
“When uncertainty and despair are upon us, the music ends up being our best ally and our shelter,” Cruz tells Billboard. “It puts a mirror in front of us and shows us who we really are — it becomes our guiding light. Some — if not all — of these songs, have guided and accompanied several of my days in these past couple months. I hope the audience finds something in this list that vibrates with them.”
Dubbed “El Faro” (translation: the lighthouse), Cruz’s quarantine playlist includes feel-good music from Beck, John Legend, Fito Páez, and Ruben Blades, to name a few. Cruz’s new single, “Hay Dias,” is also in the mix to remind fans of the importance of keeping their faith alive.
