Sara Bareilles Had Coronavirus & Recovered

Sara Bareilles took to social media on Thursday (April 2) to reveal that she had COVID-19, and has fully recovered from the viral illness.

“Hi friends, I’m socially distance walking…just had therapy. Just wanted to check in,” the singer-songwriter began a video posted to her Instagram Stories. “I’m really quiet right now, and will probably continue to be quiet. I’m just sort of taking all of this in and having a lot of feelings as I do.

“I had it, just so you know,” she then said, referring to the coronavirus. “I’m fully recovered, just so you know. And I am just thinking about all the people who are walkin’ through this really tricky time and sending a lot of love, and just being really grateful for every easy breath and every day that I get to be walkin’ around. Lots of love, you guys. Take care of yourselves.”

While Bareilles didn’t specify when or where she contracted the virus, she had been starring in the West End production of Waitress when the pandemic started alongside Gavin Creel, who revealed in an interview with Rosie O’Donnell that “a bunch of the cast has fallen sick from it.” As a result of the outbreak, the show was cancelled a week early and both Bareilles and Creel returned home to New York City from London.

Billboard has reached out to Bareilles’ reps for additional comment.
