'Saturday Night Live': Boyz II Men & Babyface Team Up for Mother's Day Tribute

Boyz II Men and Babyface joined forces for a special Mother’s Day tribute during the season 45 finale of Saturday Night Live.

For the show’s third “at home” episode on May 9, the legendary R&B trio performed 1997’s Babyface-penned “A Song for Mama” from their respective homes and studios. The iconic songwriter and producer joined in, providing smooth acoustic guitar in the background.

The beautiful black-and-white performance featured a montage of photos featuring various SNL cast members standing alongside their mothers.

“On behalf of SNL, we’d like to send a very special tribute to all of the mothers that can’t be with their children this year and all of the mothers that we’ve lost,” SNL‘s Michael Che said when introducing the musical guests.

In early April, Che revealed that he lost his grandmother to complications from Covid-19.

Saturday marked SNL‘s third at-home episode during the coronavirus pandemic. Previous housebound musical guests on the show included Coldplay’s Chris Martin and Miley Cyrus.
