The wait is officially over. MAC Cosmetics has unveiled the new Selena makeup collection Monday (April 6) with an exclusive first look for fans, in honor of the late Mexican-American singer’s 25 years of legacy.
Created in collaboration with the Quintanilla family, the new MAC Selena is inspired by the Queen of Tejano’s unique music style, distinctive global influence, and undeniable beauty.
“I am forever grateful to MAC for allowing me to bring my creative vision to life for this collection and being able to share what I felt would celebrate my sister’s 25th Anniversary,” Suzette Quintanilla, Selena’s sister, said in a statement. “Working with M·A·C on both collections has been an amazing experience.”
The collection, which represents Selena’s emblematic songs and vibrant personality with names such as “La Reina,” “Bidi Bidi Bom Bom” and “Hey dad, pizza!” includes rich shades in a variety of product categories, including lipsticks and eyeshadows, that flatter all skin types and tones. The collection even includes a black makeup bag with rhinestone, paying homage to one of Selena’s iconic performance bustiers.
Quintanilla added: “This collection is so special to me because it celebrates Selena’s 25-year legacy and I wanted the packaging to be fun and memorable! The True inspiration behind the packaging is Selena’s ICONIC rhinestone bra and really led to the holographic feel for the rest of the collection so it pulls everything together!”
This is the second time the brand is honoring the late Mexican-American singer through beauty products. The first collection launched in 2016.
The new Selena La Reina collection, which ranges from $19 to $37, will drop on Instagram between 1 and 2 p.m. ET and be available for 24 hours. The full collection will officially launch on April 21 on maccosmetics.com and on April 23 in other retailers.
