Smoove Desi is an American/Bangladeshi artist based in New York City who is making waves in the music industry. Born in Sylhet, Bangladesh, Smoove Desi moved to the United States when he was just a toddler, and music has always been a big part of his life. He was introduced to hip hop by his friends in middle school, and fell in love with the rap culture, drawing inspiration from greats like Big Pun, Jay Z, Nas, State Property, Fabolus, D-Block, G-Unit, and Dipset.
At the age of 12, Smoove Desi started rapping during lunchtime, with his friends banging on the table as he flowed to the beat to entertain them. Soon, he started battle rapping in school and at hookie parties. Around the same time, SMACK DVD was thriving, and his witty punchlines started catching a buzz around town. However, being in the streets distracted him from taking his music career further.
Although he made a few songs here and there, he never got to project his full potential because of getting caught up in street politics. In 2016, he was shot, which made things worse. Music seemed to be far from his mind, and things went on like this for a while until one day, he had enough and decided to focus on his true love, music.
After being in the studio for months cooking up, he finally decided to make Mastani his first single. It was the right choice because it has everyone excited and wanting more. Smoove Desi said, “I can’t wait to let the fans hear what I have in store for them.†When asked what kind of music he makes, he replied, “I have so many songs in all different genres, I don’t even know how to label my style. I’m just in my own lane, Smoove Desi lane!â€
