U.S. dates for Soda Stereo’s Gracias Totales Tour have been rescheduled, after being canceled due to the coronavirus. Part tribute, part reunion, the historic tour is set to resume in the spring of 2021.
The tribute to the transcendent Argentine rock band’s late frontman Gustavo Cerati and reunion of the band’s surviving members Zeta Bosio and Charly Alberti is now set to start April 8, 2021 at New York’s Barclay’s Center, and continue to Miami, Houston and Los Angeles.
A new lineup of special guests set to perform Soda Stereo songs live or video with the band members is yet to be announced. The original list of artists for the tour, which hit South America before it was threatened by the coronavirus, included Aterciopelados’ Andrea Echevarri, Café Tacvba’s Rubén Albarrán, Chilean singer Mon Laferte and Coldplay’s Chris Martin. During the concerts, Cerati’s voice and image (onscreen) also makes appearances. Fourteen invited artists were set to appear during the previous U.S. dates.
“It’s like an all-star gathering,” Bosio previously told Billboard. “A selection of incredible artists from all over Latin America who exemplify the internationality that the group had in the region and how beloved the band was; there are artists from different generations for whom Soda has had a special place in their life. A lot of them are friends, and others have always expressed their admiration for the band.”
Tickets already purchased will be honored for the new dates.
