Spotify has launched a new playlist brand titled Indigo today (March 31). The goal of the streaming service’s latest country playlist aims to “help widen the playing field for artists who span country subgenres from pop to bluegrass but stick close to country’s roots in some of their songs,” Spotify explains in its announcement.
Artists featured on Indigo include a wide roster of country music ranging from mainstream acts like Chris Stapleton, Kacey Musgraves and Miranda Lambert to the on-the-fringe stylings of acts like Orville Peck, Tyler Childers and Margo Price. Additional artists expected to be heard on the playlist are the Highwomen, Yola, Ashley McBryde, Jason Isbell, Brent Cobb, Tanya Tucker, Brothers Osborne, Paul Cauthen and Hailey Whitters.
The playlist, which is available for listening from today, aims to serve artists who push the boundaries of country music. Spotify hopes featuring these acts will allow each to expand their fan base by providing a new way broaden the country music audience.
