In the early ‘90s, Laguna Beach surfer Shawn Stüssy unintentionally landed in fashion after screen-printing graphic T-shirts to match his custom-designed surfboards. Today, the Californian wave rider’s emblematic, graffiti-influenced emblem is a signature in the world of streetwear — and the beach-boy-turned-designer is expanding his imprint at full speed.
After revealing another Nike Air Max Penny 2 collaboration earlier this week, Stüssy has delivered its official Spring 2023 campaign, spotlighting a collection that harkens back to the label’s workwear roots and pushes the narrative forward with distinct patterns and strong seasonal hues. Placing an emphasis on construction, the line remodels the brand’s signature fleece zip-ups, overshirts, quilted vests and statement pants with a wide-spanning color story and double-take-worthy graphics ranging from camo to leopard.
Among the range, outerwear dons the classic 8-ball insignia in an all-over print, while a cow-print vest layers nicely over a pastel orange coat. Mesh tops are breathable under bomber jackets with subtle branding, and it wouldn’t be a Stüssy collection without a statement, lime green button-up. Pants are kaleidoscopic, with denim going orange and utilitarian silhouettes appearing in blue and purple. Additionally, the lookbook appears to reveal an all-new Nike Air Bakin’ collaboration, done up with bright orange laces and a cream-grey build.
The first delivery of Stüssy’s Spring 2023 collection will be available worldwide on February 3 at 1 p.m. ET on the brand’s website. Flip through the lookbook in the gallery above.
