Tanya Tucker returns with While I’m Livin’, available Aug. 23 Fantasy Records. Her first set of new music since 2002’s Tanya, the country singer enlisted the help of Brandi Carlile and Shooter Jennings, who co-produced the project.
“Brandi is truly out of this world,” Tucker said in a statement. “She’s talented, smart, funny, never ever slows down and has a heart of gold. I just love her. She was like my shadow when we were in the studio. Every time I turned around; she was there. And Shooter, I’ve known him since he was a baby. He’s the one who brought us all together. So I’m ready to get this music out there because it’s different than anything I’ve ever done.”
Tucker announced the album news ahead of her performance at the 2019 CMT Music Awards on Wednesday night (June 5) with Carlile, Carly Pearce, RaeLynn, Martina McBride, Deana Carter, Trisha Yearwood and Lauren Alaina. The women sang a memorable rendition of Tucker’s 1972 hit “Delta Dawn” during the broadcast. Before the ceremony, Tucker walked the red carpet and shared her excitement to be back in the spotlight.
"It’s been a while since I’ve been to an awards show, and I kind of forgot about all the angst and all the nerves and all the chaos,” she told Billboard. “I’m just getting back into the flow of things."
While I’m Livin’ includes several songs written by Tucker, Carlile, and twins Tim and Phil Hanseroth. Lead track “The Wheels of Laredo” was written by Carlile with Tim and Phil Hanseroth. Listen to the song below.
