Tasha the Amazon – Helluva Ride

Tasha The Amazon came to talk her talk talk. Tasha the Amazon – Helluva RideOn “Helluva Ride,” she brazenly brags about the money she’s making, “I’m the yellow skin Jamaican, bringing home the bacon / Sitting on the million that I made inside my basement.” True to the lyrics, at times she taps her Jamaican roots and affects a rude gyal patois. In typical Tasha form, she finds space amidst the brags and day-one shoutouts to decry the fakes (while also giving a disclaimer that anything said out turn should be blamed squarely on her Pisces natureTasha the Amazon – Helluva Ride♓️).
“Helluva Ride” comes f Tasha The Amazon’s forthcoming Black Moon, a brand new chapter for her. A Toronto native Jamaican and German descent, Tasha made her mark on her city’s music scene with her raucous stage performances and with warehouse parties notorious for getting shut down by the police (she’s even been known to pour vodka down audience members’ throats mid-show). In late 2016, Tasha broke through with Die Every Day, which earned a nomination at the Juno Awards, Canada’s biggest music awards, for Rap Recording the Year (the same category as Drake’s Views, for comparison). When you know her musical background — classical training, love hard-core punk, and rap — it’s no wonder this new chapter  Tasha is dark, melodic, and wildly energetic.

LYRICS:

Woah this a helluva ride
Woah this a helluva ride
Spend the whole cheque in one night
Then I’m gone on the next flight

Woah this a helluva ride
Woah this a helluva ride
Watch me spend the cheque in one night
Then I’m gone on the next flight

Money got me strange, doing things I never could
Vices got me saying all these things I never should
Pull up in the Range so they know its my hood
Somethings never change, I still wish a nigga would

I’m that yellow-skin Jamaican, bringing home the bacon
Sitting on a million that I made inside my basement
I don’t run with wastemans, smile-in-my-face mans
If you think my kindness weakness, nigga you’re mistaken

Like yay, she’s back in town, she’s back in town
We celebrate, we blacking out, we blacking out
You used to hate, said “pack it down, go pack it down”
Then I got paid, whose laughing now, look whose laughing now

Woah this a helluva ride
Woah this a helluva ride
Spend the whole cheque in one night
Then I’m gone on the next flight

Woah this a helluva ride
Woah this a helluva ride
Watch me spend the cheque in one night
Then I’m gone on the next flight

This a helluva night, at a helluva dive
Spill a drink on some hundreds, now they smell like a five
Swing low my chariot, come step inside
I ride for my niggas forever, dead or alive

My gold tooth is your whole pay slip
Your vacation’s just my day trip
Damn, your face look so vexacious
I don’t give fucks and you can’t say shit

Blow the whole cheque I ain’t got no scruples
Cross the border make a quarter million moves, hoe
Leave a couple fakes facedown in some noodles
Then call up Papi bring him something for his pupils

Oooh and then we fuck until the bed is breaking
Oooh and then we fuck until the legs is shaking
Oooh I know you love me, you don’t need to say it
Oooh and in the morn I’m gone up in my spaceship

Woah this a helluva ride
Woah this a helluva ride
Spend the whole cheque in one night
Then I’m gone on the next flight

Woah this a helluva ride
Woah this a helluva ride
Watch me spend the cheque in one night
Then I’m gone on the next flight

It’s a helluva a ride, a helluva ride, it’s a helluva ride, ride
It’s a helluva a ride, a helluva ride, it’s a helluva ride

Mi step out everywhere cu’ mi money new dem
Every city fuckin love mi, dat gully yoot friend
When I touch the globe, turn my money to yen
When I touch home, enemies act like friends

Mi step out everywhere cu’ mi money new dem
Every city fuckin love mi, dat gully yoot friend
When I touch the globe, turn my money to yen
When I touch home, enemies act like friends

It’s a helluva a ride
It’s a helluva a ride
