The 1975 Bag Albums Crown In Australia

The 1975 score their second leader on Australia’s albums chart with Notes On A Conditional Form (Dirty Hit/Sony), while the blockbuster Lady GagaAriana Grande collaboration “Rain On Me” (Interscope/Universal) misses out to DaBaby’s “Rockstar” (Interscope/Universal) for the top-selling single.

Notes On A Conditional Form is the followup to the 1975’s A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships, which managed a best of No. 4 in December 2018.

It’s Matt Healy and Co.’s second leader after When You Sleep, For You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware Of It ruled the ARIA Albums Chart in 2016, and it’s the champion on this week’s ARIA Vinyl Albums Chart.

Coming in at No. 2 on the current ARIA Albums Chart is D-2 (BigHit/Orchard), the second mixtape from Agust D, the alter ego of BTSSuga, while British rapper and YouTuber KSI enjoys a No. 4 start with Dissimulation, his debut album.

In a big week for new releases, American rapper Gunna lands his ARIA Top 50 debut with Wunna (Atlantic/Warner), which bows at No. 17.

Buzzy New Zealand singer Benee hits the chart for the first time with Fire On Marzz / Stella & Steve (Universal), a combination of her first two EPs, both released last year. It’s new at No. 21.

Meanwhile, Brisbane progressive metal act Caligula’s Horse ride their fifth album Rise Radiant (CM/Sony) to a career best No. 23 debut, and Sydney post-disco artist Donny Benet impacts the top 50 for the first time as Mr Experience (Dot Dash/Inertia) enters at No. 26.

Returning Brisbane indie-rock outfit Custard mark their return to the ARIA Albums Chart with Respect All Lifeforms (ABC/Universal), new at No. 33. It’s Custard’s first appearance on the survey in two decades.

Another veteran Australian band cracks the top 40 this week, The Seekers. The ARIA Hall of Fame inductees bow at No. 39 with Hidden Treasures – Volume 1 (Decca/Universal), a collection of rarities, alternate versions, live tracks and jingles, many of which haven’t seen the light of day.

Over on the ARIA Singles Chart DaBaby’s “Rockstar” featuring Roddy Ricch enters a second week at No. 1, while Gaga and Grande’s “Rain On Me” is the highest new entry at No. 2.

Just one other single debuts inside the top 50 this week, “Go Crazy” (RCA/Sony) by Chris Brown and Young Thug, at No. 34.
