The 1975 released the mesmerizing, nature-themed visual for their collaboration with teen climate activist Greta Thunberg on Thursday morning (May 28).
The video for the opening track, “The 1975,” from the band’s ambitious Notes on a Conditional Form album was directed by Ben Ditto and Jon Emmony. It consists of a series of stock moving images of inspiring natural vistas blending one into the other, morphing and melting behind the text of Thunberg’s urgent call to action.
With the watermarks from the photo agencies the images are derived from ghostly visible on the screen for no discernible reason, the clip also mixes in images of out of control forest fires and mountains of garbage to drive home the dire nature of the climate crisis.
