After several successful films and spinoffs, it’s reboot time for The Predator. The new Predator film is set to bring the series back to its iconic horror roots, making it less of an action blockbuster franchise than some of its more recent predecessors. Starring Keegan-Michael Key, Jake Busey, Oli Munn, Sterling K. Brown, Alfie Allen, Jacob Tremblay, Boyd Holbrook, Trevante Rhodes, Thomas Jane, and Yvonne Strahovski, the soft reboot/ sequel is set to hit theaters on September 14.
Jake Busey’s father, Gary Busey, starred in Predator 2 alongside Danny Glover. Jake will play his father’s on-screen son in the film, making the reboot a real family affair. Hopefully, he won’t meet the same fate as his father did in the film. Speaking with PopCulture, Jake Busey stated that this new film will take place after the events of Predator 2. “This one definitely falls in line with the original franchise in that it does focus on the technology that the Predators have,” Jake explained. “It focuses on what the goal of the Predators is, and what their modus operandi, and why they come to the planet, and that type of thing. It’s definitely in line with the original franchise.” The official synopsis of the film goes as follows:
“From the outer reaches of space to the small-town streets of suburbia, the hunt comes home in Shane Black’s explosive reinvention of the Predator series. Now, the universe’s most lethal hunters are stronger, smarter and deadlier than ever before, having genetically upgraded themselves with DNA from other species. When a young boy accidentally triggers their return to Earth, only a ragtag crew of ex-soldiers and a disgruntled science teacher can prevent the end of the human race.”
