The Roots, Jimmy Fallon Do 'Safety Dance'

During the One World: Together at Home televised concert on Saturday night (April 18), The Roots performed the Men Without Hats classic “Safety Dance” — and gave it a whole new meaning.

The virtual performance began with Questlove whipping out the Meyers hand soap and other members seen wearing masks and gloves. Jimmy Fallon soon joined in on the fun, harmonizing with the band as they played their respective instruments. Throughout the performance, pre-recorded videos of various essential workers dancing along and even holding up papers that spelled out “Safety.”

True to his comedic form, Fallon tweaked the lyrics ever so slightly to better suit today’s current climate, singing: “We can dance, we can dance everybody’s washing their hands.” Words to live by.
