Fresh off his 10 wins at the Billboard Music Awards, The Weeknd opened the iHeartRadio Music Awards in L.A. on Thursday.
The XO crooner teamed up with the newly-married Ariana Grande to perform their chart-topping hit “Save Your Tears” for the first time. Less than two weeks after her wedding to Dalton Gomez, Grande took the stage before a crowd of masked attendees in a purple dress with her wedding ring on display. At the end, they embraced before The Weeknd bowed down to his collaborator.
Earlier in the week, Ariana shared the first photos from her intimate wedding ceremony at her Montecito, Calif. home.
The Weeknd took home the awards for Song of the Year (“Blinding Lights”) and Male Artist of the Year during Thursday’s show, which also featured performances from Doja Cat, Usher, and a tribute to Elton John with H.E.R. and Demi Lovato.
“Save Your Tears,” which appears on The Weeknd’s album After Hours, topped the Billboard Hot 100 for two weeks. It is currently No. 9 on the chart. During his appearance at the Billboard Music Awards, The Weeknd teased that the After Hours era was over and “the dawn is coming.”
