The Weeknd is teasing a posthumous collaboration with Juice WRLD that will bring a long-sought team-up to life. “Me and The Weeknd would make a diamond record…” The Weeknd tweeted on Tuesday night (Aug. 4), adding three prayer hands emoji to the throwback comment from Sept. 10, 2019, who died less than four months later of an accidental overdose at age 21.
The tweet came a few hours after the first tease, which read “XO + 999 Thursday Night,” with the XO a seeming reference to himself and the “999” a stand in for Juice, who had the number tattooed on his body and used it in his merch.
Spokespeople for both artists could not be reached for comment at press time.
The song will be the first new music from The Weeknd since his After Hours album was released earlier this year. The singer dropped the animated video for “Snowchild” last month and is slated to perform an After Hours cross-reality experience virtual concert on TikTok on Friday (Aug. 7).
