BTS’s Hot 100 No. 4 hit “ON” hit a new milestone: It’s the most searched K-pop song on Shazam of 2020 so far, according to the company’s mid-year insights shared today (July 14).
The song identification app highlighted “Blinding Lights” by The Weeknd as the most Shazamed song globally and in 16 countries while crowning the R&B crooner as 2020’s most Shazamed artist worldwide.
While The Weeknd (real name Abel Tesfaye) takes the top seed for the R&B/Soul rank and BTS stands tall in the K-pop category, here are the top Shazamed songs in the remaining seven genres: “Roses (Imanbek Remix)” by SAINt JHN for Dance, “Dance Monkey” by Tones And I for Alternative, “The Box” by Roddy Ricch for Hip-Hop/Rap, “Don’t Start Now” by Dua Lipa for Pop, “Me Gusta” by Shakira and Anuel AA for Latin, “Old Town Road (Remix)” by Lil Nas X featuring Billy Ray Cyrus for Country, and “I Want to Know What Love Is” by Foreigner for Rock.
“Blinding Lights,” “Roses (Imanbek Remix),” “Dance Monkey,” “The Box,” and “Don’t Start Now” are the top 5 most Shazamed songs globally in that order, each representing a different genre.
