J Balvin to Receive Special Award at Premio Lo Nuestro 2020
Colombian recording artist J Balvin will receive the Icono Mundial (Global Icon) award at Premio Lo Nuestro 2020, Univision has announced. Balvin, who is nominated in nine categories this year, is also performing a medley of his hits. The Premio Lo Nuestro ceremony will air live from Miami’s American Airlines Arena on Feb. 20.
London Latin Music Festival Announces Lineup
The London Latin Music Festival has unveiled more shows for its 20th edition. The event will host an array of world exclusive commissions, one-off U.K. concerts and specially curated shows from April 15 to May 4 across the capital. The list includes Bebel Gilberto, Juana Molina, Tino Contreras, Sara Correia, Melingo, Lina_Raül Referee and Weyler: Maradona in Mexico and more. Also, the French-Chilean hip-hop artist Ana Tijoux returns to the festival with a concert at the Jazz Café, while Grammy-winning Argentine pianist and composer Fernando Otero will showcase his interpretations of repertoire from Astor Piazzolla and Ariel Ramirez at Southbank’s Purcell Room. Gente de Zona Confirmed for Midem 2020
Magnus Media’s CEO and co-founder Michel Vega and duo Gente de Zona have been confirmed for this year’s Midiem event, taking place June 2-5 at Palais des Festivals in Cannes, France. The Cuban duo will discuss their international rise with Vega. The conversation will be the highlight of Midem’s Latin American Forum. “For the past few years, Midem has been shining a light on the extraordinary rise of Latin artists on the global stage. It’s been fascinating seeing their evolution into global mainstream and I can’t wait for this year’s Midem Latin American Forum to explore what the next frontier for Latin music will be," says Midem director Alexandre Deniot.
Aventura Adds Tour Dates
Bachata group Aventura has extended their Inmortal Tour. This week, the band announced the addition of nine more shows, including performances in Las Vegas, San Jose, Oakland, San Diego, Orlando, Fort Lauderdale, San Antonio, Dallas and Greensboro, N.C. The tour is set to start in Los Angeles on Tuesday.
