Motown signee Tiana Major9 is doing the other thing she loves best during quarantine: cooking.
The East London singer/songwriter, who jumped on American radars last fall with her Earthgang collab “Collide” from the Queen & Slim soundtrack — followed by at spot at Billboard’s 2019 Women In Music celebration — took over Billboard‘s Instagram on Thursday (May 14) to talk about what she’s been dishing up during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown.
If you follow Tiana on Insta, you know she’s always in the kitchen cooking something up, so, she says, “I’m grateful that I have enough time to work on recipes and nourish my body and really take care.” Her busy day included a deep conditioning of her hair, whipping up a killer pancake breakfast with some homemade blueberry drizzle and a healthy bout of quaran-cleaning her apartment.
By the time she’s done it’s time for lunch, which consists of a traditional shrimp and pasta dish called Gamberetti that looks delicious, followed by a hair rinse to get the conditioner out. “So I’ve been learning to play guitar FaceTime,” she says, noting that her brother has been giving her lessons, which compliment the virtual vocal lessons with her vocal coach in Los Angeles.
“That’s something that I didn’t realize I would enjoy, but I really like it and I feel like myself,” she says, adding that the voice classes help her feel more like herself as she spends time alone in self-quarantine. “I know that it won’t be forever, but for right now I’ve adjusted.”
And don’t forget to listen to her new song, “Think About You.” Check out the full Tiana Major9 IGTV video below.
