Tory Lanez channels Eminem circa-2004 for a goofy and outlandish take on “My Salsa.”
For whatever reason, it’s seeming like the game is finally ready to openly give his flowers — that’s not to say rappers haven’t sung his praises before, but it feels as if Music To Be Murdered By really left a lasting impression on the game. Not only did implement elements of “Superman” into his recent “Chicago Freestyle,” but not appears to be drawing from the box of Em classics for his latest snippet.

Taking to both Instagram and TikTok to have some fun, Tory showcases a new “track” he’s been working on. A track that appears to be built around the climactic moments of D12’s “My Band,” otherwise known as “My Salsa.” In the clip, Tory channels Eminem’s amusing and bewildering foray into mariachi territory, adding his own signature spin on it in the process; needless to say, this isn’t what we had in mind when he teased a “Spanish Album.”
After many fans were quick to react in confusion, Tory was forced to clarify the situation. “Real ones know this is from EM,” he comments, his facepalm emoji suggesting his frustration with the lack of early millennium hip-hop knowledge. Of all the Eminem songs to see repurposed, who’d have thought “My Band” would land the special treatment? Either way, it’s cool to see Tory pay homage to one of the greatest to ever do it — perhaps one day they’ll collaborate on an actual track. After all, it’s clear that Em’s pal has a few things to say about the Canadian lyricist.
