The track rises to No. 2 on Country Airplay.
Travis Denning rises 2-1 on Billboard’s Emerging Artists chart (dated June 6) to become the top emerging act in the U.S. for the first time, thanks to his biggest hit single yet, “After a Few.”
The song reaches a new high on Country Airplay, at No. 2, and has spent a record 64 total weeks on the chart, dating to its March 2019 debut. It’s Denning’s second entry on the survey, after “David Ashley Parker From Powder Springs” hit No. 32 in September 2018.
“Few” also ascends to new bests of No. 7 on Hot Country Songs and No. 33 on the Billboard Hot 100, with 33.2 million radio audience impressions, 7.4 million U.S. streams and 2,000 downloads sold in the tracking week, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data.
The song’s parent EP Beer’s Better Cold stands at No. 38 on the Top Country Albums chart, a week after debuting at No. 20.
Denning is the third country act to rule the Emerging Artists chart this year, following Gabby Barrett (six total weeks at No. 1) and Ingrid Andress (three). Blanco Brown was the only country act to reign in 2019.
The Emerging Artists chart ranks the most popular developing artists of the week, using the same formula as the all-encompassing Billboard Artist 100, which measures artist activity across multiple Billboard charts, including the Hot 100, Billboard 200 and the Social 50. (The Artist 100 lists the most popular acts, overall, each week.) However, the Emerging Artists chart excludes acts that have notched a top 25 entry on either the Hot 100 or Billboard 200, as well as artists that have achieved two or more top 10s on Billboard’s “Hot” song genre charts and/or consumption-based “Top” album genre rankings.
