Tyler, The Creator is fresh off of the North American portion of his CHROMAKOPIA tour and in a few weeks, he’ll take a newer version of the show to New Zealand and Australia. Of course, he’s also coming off of the release of his new album DON’T TAP THE GLASS, which like most of his work, has received a great reception. You can stream it here.
In a brand new interview with Ebro, Laura Stylez and Peter Rosenberg, Tyler stopped by to talk about the album and revealed some interesting information about its title.
Ebro asked about the name being a reference to people being on their phone too much and although he liked that interpretation, Tyler admitted it wasn’t the inspiration. Rather, it was a title he came up with and originally wanted to be the name of the duo that he and A$AP Rocky had, which fans were calling WANG$AP.
“DON’T TAP THE GLASS was actually a name that I had for the duo for me and Flacko, but it never got used. I thought it would be sick like ‘let’s just be called ‘DON’T TAP THE GLASS’, that’s hard” he said. “I just always had that title in the tuck and I always just loved it and when I started working on this, I was like oh my God this feels like that sh*t’”.
He also went on to say he and Rocky never locked in on music because of scheduling conflicts and studio time preferences. Check out the clip below.
