DaBaby recruited Roddy Ricch for more than just a feature on their Hot 100 No. 1 hit “Rockstar.” The two take down a fleet of zombies in the action-packed visual out today (June 26).
With a catchy chorus that compares rockstars’ guitars to rappers’ firearms, DaBaby and Ricch pack heat for a forest bloodbath to combat the creatures, who reportedly died from an unknown disease (specifically not coronavirus) mentioned in the beginning. But the zombies double as their main targets and bandmates, with a crimson red grand piano sticking out of the green meadow where a handful of zombies perform in unison, red electric guitars swinging in the air.
With the two rappers on zombie duty, DaBaby remembers who he’s fighting for. His daughter makes a special cameo in the Reel Goats-directed clip when she runs into DaBaby’s arms as he wraps them around her and raps, “My daughter a G, she saw me kill a n—a in front of her before the age of two/ And I’ll kill another n—a too/ ‘Fore I let another n—a do somethin’ to you/ Long as you know that, don’t let nobody tell you different/ Daddy love you.”
DaBaby later takes down the rest of the swarm in a solo expedition to the tune of “Amazing Grace,” the last track of his Billboard 200 No. 1 album Blame It On Baby. The end of the seven-minute feature plays a snippet of the “Rockstar [BLM Remix]” while showing behind-the-scenes footage of how it all came together while abiding by social distancing and face mask-wearing guidelines.
