Pop star Demi Lovato kicked off the Super Bowl LIV festivities Sunday night (Feb. 2) at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami with a soaring rendition of the national anthem.
Wearing an all-white lapeled jumpsuit with a belt, Lovato delivered a note-perfect rendition of the patriotic song, nailing both the dramatic "land of the free" climax and the elongated closing "brave" note — which Chiefs fans in attendance loudly yelled their team name over. The anthem has been performed at the Super Bowl in recent years by P!nk, Luke Bryan, Lady Gaga, Idina Menzel and Gladys Knight.
Earlier in Super Bowl weekend, Demi Lovato joined country duo Dan + Shay on stage during their Saturday gig at the Bud Light Super Bowl Fest, performing their Grammy-winning ballad "Speechless." The trio had previously enjoyed an impromptu singalong of the Country Airplay chart-topper, posting the backstage collab to their Instagram.
The Super Bowl marks Lovato's second Sunday in a row delivering a high-profile performance on national TV, having debuted her new show-stopper "Anyone" at the Grammys just a week before. The song is expected to debut on the Billboard Hot 100 this week, Lovato's first entry on the chart since "Sober" in 2018.
