Monday (Aug. 3) marks National Watermelon Day, so naturally, Harry Styles’ legions of fans have declared the holiday #WatermelonSugarDay in honor of their king and his sugary Fine Line-era single.
“The way it was national watermelon day but now it’s watermelon sugar day because harry is the owner of watermelons yup,” one fan tweeted using the hashtag #WatermelonSugarDay, while another declared, “Harry culturally and legally owns watermelons. august 3rd is now officially harry styles’ day.”
Several fans shared clips of the pop star performing the summery track on Saturday Night Live back in November — complete with his watermelon-hued suit — while others posted their favorite moments from the “Watermelon Sugar” music video.
“HAPPY WATERMELON SUGAR DAY TO THE LEGEND,” one fan wrote alongside the SNL clip, while another tweeted “ITS WHAT HE DESERVES” using a number of adorable stills from the track’s beachside video shoot.
While “Watermelon Sugar” earned the former One Direction-er his third Top 10 hit on the Hot 100, peaking at No. 6 thus far, the track has also notched Styles his second chart-topper on this week’s Pop Songs chart (dated Aug. 8, 2020).
