Weezer Gives us the ‘Hero’ We Need on ‘Tonight Show’: Watch

We all need a hero right now. Thankfully, Weezer knows the score.

The alternative rock favorites were the musical guests Wednesday (June 17) on The Tonight Show, for an at-home performance of “Hero.”

Showing off some isolation facial hair, Rivers Cuomo played his part at an upright piano while his bandmates filled it up on a flatscreen TV to his left.

Not all heroes wear capes, sure. Some Panama wear hats.

The single dropped May 6 and will appear on the upcoming 14th Weezer studio album, Van Weezer, the release of which has been delayed due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Expect the LP to sprout muscles. “Last album we didn’t have any guitars, this one is just all guitars. A hundred guitars,” the frontman told Zane Lowe on Apple Music’s Beats 1 of Van Weezer.

Cuomo has been keeping match-fit with his “Island in the Zoom” livestream show. On one recent edition, he covered Nirvana’s “Heart-Shaped Box”.
