2020 might feel like a dud of a year because of the novel coronavirus, but it certainly hasn’t stopped some artists from making major career moves.
The Weeknd‘s After Hours album stayed No. 1 on the Billboard 200 for an entire month, making his LP the first one to have a hot streak of four consecutive weeks since Drake‘s Scorpion in 2018. Champagne Papi also uncorked a bottle of bubbly when he became the artist with the most Billboard Hot 100 entries of all time back in March.
When Bad Bunny isn’t posing nude on the ‘gram or dressing in drag for his incredibly empowering “Yo Perreo Sola” music video, he’s planning on dethroning himself on Billboard‘s Top Latin Albums chart. His surprise album Las Que No Iban a Salir is projected to knock down YHLQMDLG after he released it in March, which made history with its No. 2 debut on the Billboard 200 for the highest-charting all-Spanish-language LP ever.
Speaking of history, Doja Cat and Megan Thee Stallion made some this week when the former’s “Say So” remix featuring Nicki Minaj topped the Hot 100 on the May 16-dated tally and the latter’s “Savage” remix featuring Beyoncé secured the No. 2 spot. For the first time in the chart’s 61-year history, four black female soloists occupy the top two positions.
