Legendary comedian Will Ferrell was heading home from a Funny or Die event in San Diego when an SUV chauffeuring him and two others was struck by a Toyota, reports TMZ. The Toyota hit Ferrell’s vehicle in the right rear, causing it to spin out and flip over. Although beer bottles were found at the scene of the accident after the SUV was flipped back over, law enforcement told TMZ that they do not believe drugs or alcohol played a role in the accident. The crash occurred around 11 PM on Thursday (April 12) in Orange County on the I-5 freeway, one of California’s most densely packed highways.
Ferrell was spotted speaking on his cell phone as firefighters put him on a stretcher and loaded him into an ambulance. His injuries were reported to be minor, and he has already been released from the hospital and is recovering from the accident. TMZ reports that one of the other passengers in Ferrell’s vehicle was bleeding profusely, and may have suffered much more significant injuries in the accident. No one has been arrested or charged at the time. Although it seems as if the situation is under control, we’ll keep you updated if any new information comes out about the accident.
