Yeah Yeah Yeahs Jam to 'Phenomena' During Quarantine Closet Party

The members of Yeah Yeah Yeahs aren’t going to let the coronavirus pandemic stop them from throwing a party, even if it’s at home alone in a closet.

On Saturday night (May 23), Yeah Yeah Yeahs singer Karen O shared a video of herself wildly performing the trio’s 2006 song “Phenomena” in a closet decorated with gold tinsel and a laptop broadcasting a masked Nick Zinner on guitar.

“Party anywhere (closet) anytime (any day of the week) safe at home,” Karen O, who donned a pharaoh hat and face mask, captioned the Instagram clip, tagging bandmates Zinner, Brian Chase and music video director Barney Clay.

The strobe-light-filled video received a digital thumbs from fellow musician friends like Har Mar Superstar and the Bird and the Bee’s Inara George.

“Yes! Definitely NEEDED THAT!” Har Mar commented, while George branded the post with several heart emojis.

Like many other artists, Yeah Yeah Yeahs were forced to cancel numerous planned live performances over concerns about the spread of COVID-19.

Here’s hoping that time in self-quarantine has given Yeah Yeah Yeahs time to work on new music. The group’s last album, Mosquito, was released in 2013.
