“You’re getting a lot of stories about me,†the 22-year-old rapper told PEOPLE. “You’re getting a lot of stories about my past and where I want to be in my love life. But they’re also a bop. MONTERO arrives along with a cinematic video for “That’s What I Want,†which Nas calls his “favorite video I’ve ever made.†In the opening scene of the STILLZ-directed clip, Nas plays a high school football player, who makes out with his teammate in the locker room. Later in life, he is devastated to find out that his crush is married with a kid. With tears in his eyes, Nas walks down the aisle at a church in a wedding dress before Billy Porter hands him a guitar.
Nas pulled out all the stops to promote the album, including a VMA performance, pregnancy photo shoot, billboards, and even his own talk show, “The Montero Show,†which ended with him giving birth.
