Ben Affleck and Matt Damon’s Nike Drama ‘Air’ Gets 2023 Theatrical Release Date

Ben Affleck’s forthcoming directorial effort, Air, will premiere in theaters worldwide on April 5, prior to its debut on Amazon’s Prime Video. The film, which stars Affleck and Matt Damon, follows the inception of the Air Jordan Brand and the game-changing partnership between Nike and Michael Jordan.

The sports drama will see Affleck in the role of Nike co-founder Phil Knight, while Damon will play Nike executive Sonny Vaccaro. Elsewhere, the cast features Jason Bateman as Rob Strasser, Chris Messina as David Falk, Matthew Maher as Peter Moore, Marlon Wayans as George Raveling, Chris Tucker as Howard White, Viola Davis as Deloris Jordan, Gustaf Skarsgård as Horst Dassler and Julius Tennon as James Jordan.

Notably, the movie marks the first project from Affleck and Damon’s Artist Equity, in partnership with Amazon Studios, Skydance Sports and Mandalay Pictures. Producers include David Ellison, Jesse Sisgold, Jon Weinbach, Affleck, Damon, Madison Ainley, Jeff Robinov, Peter Guber and Jason Michael Berman, with executive producers Dana Goldberg, Don Granger, Kevin Halloran, Michael Joe, Drew Vinton, John Graham, Peter E. Strauss and Jordan Moldo. Alex Convery penned the film’s script.

Elsewhere in entertainment, Avatar: The Way of Water is the sixth film in history to pass $2 billion USD at the global box office.
