Japanese fashion label Onitsuka Tiger has tapped fashion maverick Nick Wooster for a capsule collection under the brand’s boutique imprint, titled “The Onituska.” The collaboration, which marks the first collection under the heritage-inspired label, features a range of original styles crafted in Japan.

The collection employs a minimalist design aesthetic, with subtle color inclusions and simple design details. Among the standouts, the range includes a silhouette that combines a bomber jacket with skirt pants, as well as four new footwear models: the WIGURVE, the STUDDED DERBY, the WIGURVE SIDE GORE BOOT and BROGUE CHUKKA.

On the collaboration, Wooster said, “When creating something, my approach is to complete a whole style first. This capsule collection was constructed by combining a bomber jacket with skirt pants as the base. I have also focused on a minimalist palette, by limiting the colors to white, black, and military green, which unifies the styles. For the shoes, I’ve studied the history of Onitsuka Tiger, which started in 1949, and updated their classic style with my own interpretation.”

Wooster entered the industry at Barney’s New York, before serving as the fashion director at Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman. Today, he acts as an advisor for several brands, and his longstanding influence is among the most distinctive in fashion.

The collection is now available to shop on the brand’s website and at Onitsuka Tiger stores in Japan, the U.S., the U.K., Italy, China and Singapore. Take a look at the range in the gallery above.
