Kodak Black has officially responded to Young Thug‘s public invitation to join YSL Records, and he is not making it easy. Following his recent departure from Capitol Records, the Florida rapper has outlined a specific set of requirements for any potential deal, signaling that he is looking for a significant investment and a creative partnership.
During a recent livestream, Kodak addressed the offer Thugger extended in late June. When asked about the possibility of signing with the YSL boss, Kodak didn’t mince words. “Yeah, Thug talking about whatever I think I want if I do a deal. Oh yeah? Well sh*t. I need a collab album with Mariah The Scientist, I need a hundred millions…” he stated, setting a high bar for his next career move.
The public pitch from Young Thug came shortly after Kodak confirmed his status as a free agent. Thugger had taken to X to express his interest, writing, “If he would do a deal with me, I would give that boy whateva he think he want #NoCizzy.”
Kodak’s career has seen several major label shifts in recent years. After an eight-year tenure with Atlantic Records, he signed a multimillion-dollar deal with Capitol Records in 2022. His time there included the release of projects like When I Was Dead and his final offering, Kodak the Blessing, which preceded his exit in early June. As he navigates his next chapter, it remains to be seen if Young Thug is prepared to meet these ambitious demands to bring the rapper into the YSL fold.
