Foolio Killer Davion Murphy Gets Five Years Added to Life Sentence for Punching Corrections Officer

Davion Murphy, one of the individuals convicted in the murder of Foolio, has received an additional five-year sentence for assaulting a corrections officer while incarcerated.

Davion Murphy, one of the four individuals convicted in the 2024 killing of the rapper Foolio, has been sentenced to an additional five years behind bars. This latest legal development comes despite Murphy already serving a life sentence for his role in the high-profile murder case.

According to court documents obtained by XXL, the sentencing took place on Wednesday, July 15, following a hearing regarding an incident that occurred last February. Murphy was involved in a physical altercation with a corrections officer while in custody, during which he reportedly punched the officer in the face. Murphy entered a guilty plea on June 29, and the new five-year term will run concurrently with his existing life sentence. He has been credited with 536 days of time served.

This sentencing follows the conclusion of the murder trial just one week prior, where Murphy and his co-defendants—Isaiah Chance, Sean Gathright, and Rashad Murphy—were each handed life sentences for the ambush and killing of Foolio in a Tampa hotel parking lot. During the sentencing proceedings, Davion Murphy addressed the court, maintaining his innocence while offering a cautionary message to younger generations.

“I just want to say to the Gen Z generation, change your life and do something productive with your life because in this predicament, it ain’t worth it,” Murphy told the court.

The broader case, which prosecutors have linked to an ongoing gang feud in Jacksonville, Florida, has seen multiple convictions. Alicia Andrews, the fifth person charged in connection with the murder, was found guilty of manslaughter in 2025 and sentenced to 15 years in prison last month.
