Nipsey Hussle’s Iconic ‘Higher’ Lowrider Heads to Auction

The custom 1959 Chevrolet Impala featured in Nipsey Hussle and DJ Khaled's 'Higher' music video is set to hit the auction block.

The iconic baby blue lowrider that gained international recognition in DJ Khaled‘s music video for the hit single “Higher” is officially heading to auction. The vehicle, which famously featured the late Nipsey Hussle, is expected to fetch between $175,000 and $225,000 when it crosses the block.

According to a listing on Mecum Auctions, the custom 1959 Chevrolet Impala Sport Coupe will be a highlight of the upcoming Monterey Car Week 2026 event in Monterey, Calif. The auction is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 14, offering collectors a chance to own a significant piece of hip-hop history.

The classic vehicle is finished in a striking baby blue exterior, complemented by a matching tri-tone blue interior and classic Dayton wire wheels wrapped in whitewall tires. Under the hood, the car is powered by a 283 cubic-inch V8 engine paired with a Turbo Hydramatic 350 automatic transmission. Beyond its aesthetic appeal, the Impala is equipped with a custom hydraulic suspension system, allowing the car to perform the signature “dancing” motion that defines the lowrider culture.

The Impala’s cultural significance is tied directly to the 2019 “Higher” music video, which also featured John Legend. The track served as a poignant moment in music history, earning the late rapper his first of two Grammy Awards for Best Melodic Rap Performance at the 2020 ceremony. The song also achieved Gold status from the RIAA and received a nomination for Best Hip-Hop at the 2019 MTV Video Music Awards.

As fans continue to celebrate the legacy of the Crenshaw rapper, his posthumous collaborative album with Bino Rideaux, titled Prolific, is slated for release on digital streaming platforms on Aug. 14.
