North London rapper AntsLive kicks his year off with the track “Number One Candidateâ€, equipped with a show-stopping set of visuals.
Produced by Bijin Amir, who co-produced Metro Boomin and Offset’s “Ric Flair Dripâ€, AntsLive soars over the beat marked by massive horns, delivering an addictive hook and clarity in his equally-standout verses. His flows are a breath of fresh air, executing sharpened cadence and melodies fit to rock stages for years to come.
“Number One Candidate†comes equipped with an alluring music video, directed by Tom Emmerson (ASAP Mob, Burberry, Col3trane). Set in the Italian Alps, it features a range of stunning camerawork and AntsLive riding a horse, a skill which the rapper had just ten days to learn. The obvious quality of the song and video has led to traction on TikTok, bringing back the effective nature of music videos in a time where the music industry has shifted away from their importance, AntsLive also sets a great example for visuals in UK rap, which will inevitability influence creativity expected from other rappers.
“Number One Candidate†is lifted from AntsLive’s debut mixtape, Just a Matter of Time, a nine-track project that maintains the elements found on the lead track.
