Since winning the 2017 Verizon x 300 Entertainment #freestyle50 competition, Chicago rapper and entrepreneur Y.K Supe has remained consistent. In fact, the independent artist returns today with his third project of the year.
Keeping this EP in-house with his YKMG (Young King Music Group) brand, Y.K Supe teams up with longtime friend and producer 93 Chris to deliver The Skrrt Tape Vol. 1. Y.K Supe keeps the focus on him with this EP with no guest verses, and gets right into what’s on his mind with the intro “Pandemic.”
“Just lost my cousin and big sis / Gotta keep my pipe/ Can’t live like this,” Y.K Supe raps in a remorseful tone.
The joint project finds Y.K Supe alternating from introspective lyrics, to boastful rhymes about his lifestyle, to dropping some critics about the industry. Capable of serving raw aggression or more laid-back tracks, Y.K Supe shows his versatility and especially his chemistry with 93 Chris on T.S.T Vol. 1.
“The only feature is a collab on the production with 93 Chris & Fl8cko aka Fl8ckoGoingCrazy. They teamed up for the BeatEm record, which is a Chicago infused southern blend that compliments my flow..it just has a crunk music vibe to it,” Y.K Supe shares with us.
