Following its collaboration with Jayson Tatum for Celtics-themed New Era 59Fifty Hats, Concepts now reconnects with ASICS for a special-edition pair of ASICS GEL-LYTE V. Nicknamed “Libertea,†the pairs come in a red, white, and blue color scheme with gold and silver metallic accents.
The GEL-LYTE V and its 1993 release were inspired by montaging cutting room floor sketches from different designers into a new product. As the ASICS silhouette celebrates its 30th anniversary, “Libertea†now recalls Concepts’ ASICS GEL-LYTE III “Boston Tea Party†colorway. Uppers appear in athletic mesh and supple suede with an integrated tongue and alternative pink and black laces. Side panels come mismatched with gold and silver tiger stripes and faux-wood insoles feature distinct ASICS and Concepts branding. Hits of red drop down to the white midsole and tri-toned outsoles elevate the pairs. Rounding out the offering is a waxed wood-patterned shoe box.
“Our relationship with ASICS has allowed some of our most unique storylines and the length of our partnership has given us the time to anniversary product that we’re able to do so with utmost attention to material and execution,†says Deon Point, Concepts’ Creative Director.
Priced at $150 USD, the Concepts x ASICS GEL-LYTE V “Libertea†will launch exclusively on the Concepts website on June 30 at 11 a.m. EST.
Elsewhere in footwear, New Balance 580 surfaces in “Sakura†hues.
